Setting up Pirate Ship integration

Dusan Videnovic Updated by Dusan Videnovic

We're very pleased to announce that we're now fully integrated with Pirate Ship, the most affordable shipping service in the US. Here's how you can quick and easy connect Pirate Ship to your Subbly store.

First of all, you'd need to sign up for using Pirate Ship from their site here. Possibly the best part of Pirate Ship, apart from it being very reliable and the only software for pirates, is it's completely free to use.

When you've created your Pirate Ship, it's time to go back to your Subbly store and navigate over to Integrations here. Scroll down to the Pirate Ship and click on Open button beneath the Pirate Ship icon on the Integrations.

You'll be taken to the instructions window where you'll see the API key. Feel free to copy that code to the clipboard, as you're going to need it soon.

Now go back to your Pirate Ship admin and click on Import from Integrations at the top of the main screen. You'll be taken to the page here. Scroll down and choose Import from Subbly

Finally, make sure to copy the API key previously taken from Subbly to the appropriate field as displayed in the picture below.

How the integration works?

Once you have successfully signed up to Pirate Ship and connected Subbly with it, the integration is connected and it will work as described below:

  • When your pending orders reach the shipping date, they will be automatically pulled into your orders section on Pirate Ship dashboard. Order slip will show information about the customer and the product and their customizations associated with the order if they were added during the checkout.
  • Once you are ready to ship, you can select the orders you want to ship all at once and then generate shipping labels based on the current rates from your connected carriers.
  • Once the labels are successfully generated, Pirate Ship will notify Subbly that your order has been shipped.
  • Subbly will automatically mark the relevant order(s) as Shipped
  • Subbly will email your customer to notify them that their order is on the way. If there is any available tracking information, we will send that to your customer as well, as the part of the Order Shipped email which you can also enable/disable or change the contents of the email from here.

And you're done. Your orders from Subbly will now automatically fetch into your Pirate Ship where you'll be able to print shipping labels when your orders are due.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Why aren't my orders showing on Pirate Ship?

If you've integrated Pirate Ship with your Subbly account, and still can't see recently generated orders inside Pirate Ship, these are the possible reasons for it:

  1. The orders might have a shipping date in the future, and it hasn't neared that date yet. This applies especially to incoherent or prepaid subscriptions, that generate multiple shipments with shipping dates in the future. Orders are only synced to Pirate Ship once they reach the shipping date and are in Awaiting Delivery status - so if a pending order you expect to see in Pirate Ship hasn't met these conditions, you'll have to wait till the due date for that shipment approaches for it to be automatically synced to Pirate Ship.
  2. You might have multiple Integrations in your Pirate Ship account, and you haven't filtered it to show Subbly orders. If that's the case, click on Source heading within Import from Integrations page, and select Subbly.

If you have additional questions about this or any other functionality, please don't hesitate to reach out to support.
