Setting up Facebook CAPI & Pixel

Dusan Videnovic Updated by Dusan Videnovic

We have a dedicated app on our App Store for you to easily install Facebook CAPI & Facebook Pixel, and track the success of your ads. Below you'll find a step-by-step guide on what you need to configure to enable this functionality.

Why do I need this app?

Facebook Conversion API (a.k.a. FB CAPI) is a powerful tool that helps you improve the measurement, data collection, and overall performance of your Facebook ad campaigns along with the Facebook Pixel to obtain accurate results.

And by installing FB Pixel you'll be able to track the following events across the checkout pages:

  • PageViews - total number of views
  • CompleteRegistration - fires an event when the customer goes past the name and email step and creates an account in the database (doesn't have to finish the actual checkout)
  • AddPaymentInfo - fires an event when the customer goes past the CC/PayPal step on the checkout and provides the payment source.
  • CustomizeProduct - fires when the customer finishes the survey for the product on the checkout (if applicable).
  • Purchase - fires when the customer finishes with the checkout and reaches the success page of the checkout.
Please note that you'll need to have your checkout hosted on your own domain if you are to be able to successfully track the described events through this app. Then go here and follow instructions on the page.

How do I set it up?

  1. Go to your account in Meta Business Manager (https://business.facebook.com/)
You need to create an account for it in case you don't have one yet.
  2. Find Events manager on the left or just use this link
  3. Click Connect Data Source on the menu at left
  4. Choose Web in the opened pop-up, enter the name of your choice and hit Create Pixel
  5. Follow the process further
    1. Enter your website
    2. Choose conversion API and Meta Pixel
    3. Close the window. You don’t need to set up anything else as Subbly handles events configuration instead of you!
  6. Once you have your event created, go to Settings
    1. Copy Pixel ID by clicking on it
    2. Go to your Subbly Admin and paste it into the Facebook Pixel app
  7. Get the access token
    1. Scroll down the Settings tab, find Set up Manually and click on Generate access token
    2. Paste it into Access Token field
  8. That's it! Click on Enabled and Save.
Sometimes it takes 24 hours for Facebook to start displaying the events.
