How to Revert to a Previous Version

This article explains how to roll back to earlier versions of your site and how to create a new chat from an earlier version without publishing changes automatically.

Deleting chats, projects or prompts

To delete a chat or an entire project, open Project Settings and choose the relevant delete option.

There is no backup for deleted projects or chats, and deleted projects cannot be restored. Use caution when deleting them.

To delete a prompt inside a chat, hover over the prompt and click the trash icon.

Deleting a prompt reverts the site to the version that existed before that prompt. It also removes changes made by later prompts.

Using Version History

Open the project in Chat view and click Version History. The menu shows the versions in that chat.

Select the version you want to use, then open its three-dot menu. The menu provides two actions: Restore and New Chat.

The first line in the chat header identifies the chat that the current chat continues from. Use it to check a chat's source when you review a branch.

Restore a version

Choose Restore to load the selected version into the current chat. This changes the branch you are viewing and removes later changes from that current working branch. Use it when you want to roll the current chat back.

Restore changes the current chat. Check that you selected the right version before confirming. It does not publish the site. Use Publish separately when you are ready to make changes live.

Create a new chat from a version

Choose New Chat to create a separate chat from the selected version. The original chat and its history remain available and unchanged. The new chat becomes the continuation where you can send prompts and make further changes.

Read-Only chats

Only the most recent chat in a project accepts new prompts. Earlier chats are marked Read-Only, so you cannot continue them directly from the prompt box.

A Read-Only chat is still available for reference. Open its Version History, select a version, and choose New Chat to create a new branch. If you cannot prompt an older chat, create a New Chat from the version you want to continue.

Note that branching (opening New Chat) from one of the previous chats will ultimately roll back to the older version of your build. If you want to continue from where you left off last time you were working with the builder, simply start from the most recent chat in the chat tree view.

Restore versus New Chat

Publishing your changes

Restore and New Chat change the Builder project or chat state. Neither action publishes a version to your connected domain. To make the selected build live, review the preview and use the current Publish action.

For example: select an earlier version, choose New Chat, make your changes in the new chat, review the preview, and click Publish when the build is ready.
