Setting up Your Project Settings

Andrija Krstic Updated by Andrija Krstic

This article includes instructions on the importance of setting up Project Instructions. It also contains information about environment variables, custom domain, and other settings included in the Project Settings.

You can find Project Settings in the chat column of your builder's Dashboard. Under Project settings panel you are able to manipulate the name of both the chat you're currently working on and the project. You are also able to delete either of them.

Learn more about the differences between the chats and projects, and how to create or rename them in the separate article here.

Environment variables

Environment variables are a set of API keys connected to the project. It makes it easier for you to connect any external platform for tracking data or to fetch information from the backend (product and store setup).

You can access the Environment Variables from Project Settings in the builder's header.

When starting the new project, builder will automatically fetch environment variables associated with your Subbly store setup, such as store currency, support email, Subbly API key (accessible here and important for fetching data about products and surveys), or terms and conditions URL (fetched from here).

Prompting the AI agent to connect the external platform or send data from the site to an external platform will also automatically add the environment variable to the list.

As an example, you can prompt the builder to install Google Analytics tracking on all site's pages and it will add the env variable with provided GA ID. Alternatively, you can also prompt the builder to send data from an existing contact form to an external platform (such as Klaviyo), in which case you'll need to provide both the API and list/audience ID of an external platform.

You can also manually add env variable by clicking on Add Variable button.

Custom Domain

Find out how to connect the domain to your build in the separate article here.

Instructions

Setting up instructions should always be the first step before starting any project. These instructions provide clear guidelines for the AI agent, ensuring it follows the right direction when building both the main and inner pages of the site.

Instructions should define essential elements such as font families, font sizes, site hierarchy, typography rules, and the general color palette. Establishing these guidelines upfront not only keeps the design consistent across the build but also helps save a significant number of tokens during the process.

Settings

Under Settings tab you are able to:

  1. choose the AI model used by the AI agent (check article here to find our more about different AI models available)
  2. restart the server preview (in case you're having one of the known problems explained here)
