Glossary of Terms
A free glossary of terms people should know when using our agentic builder.
Use this glossary to understand the terms used in Subbly's AI Website Builder and its workspace tools.
AI Agent - Model-driven worker that interprets your prompts and applies changes to your site inside each chat. It can make design, content, and supported store changes based on your instructions.
Admin workspace - The operational Subbly backend where you manage products, customers, subscriptions, orders, invoices, analytics, settings, integrations, and other store operations.
Builder workspace - The AI Website Builder where you create and edit a storefront or website through projects and chat prompts, review previews and versions, and publish changes.
AI Web Builder - The left-sidebar entry that opens the AI Website Builder from the Subbly admin.
Project - Top-level container for a build. A project groups chats and holds persistent settings such as Project Instructions and Secrets.
Project switcher - The project list available from the profile or name menu in the top-right of Builder. Use it to move between projects when your account has more than one.
Chat - A thread within a project where you prompt the agent to make changes. Use one chat for one coherent body of work.
First prompt - The first instruction you send in a new project. It establishes the foundation for the project.
Prompt - A single instruction you send in chat to request changes to the build.
Context Window - The finite amount of information the agent can see in the current chat.
Project Instructions - Persistent guidance stored in Project Settings and used across chats, such as brand colors, typography, fonts, spacing, and general layout principles.
Element Selector Tool - A targeting tool in the chat panel that lets you select an element in the preview so the agent knows what you want to modify.
Visual Editor - An in-chat editor that appears when exactly one element is selected. It is intended for small direct edits to that element.
Page Prompt Builder - A chat-widget tool next to Element Selector and Annotate that lets you choose supported page sections. The selected sections are saved as an instruction snippet and added to the agent's instructions for the current page-building task.
Annotate - A visual sketch tool beside Element Selector and Page Prompt Builder. Draw on the preview to highlight an element, show movement, or indicate direction, then click ADD TO CHAT to attach a snapshot to your prompt. The annotation gives the agent instructions. It does not directly edit the page.
AI Models - Selectable models with different reasoning power and credit usage. The available choices and labels appear in the Builder interface.
Publish - Makes the current Builder version live. Previewing and publishing are separate actions.
Preview Link - A temporary link to the current preview that can be shared for review. Use Publish when you want to make the current version live.
Version History - A project history you can open from the chat interface to review earlier versions.
Attach Files - A utility in the chat panel for uploading assets such as fonts and images for the agent to use.
Console - A collapsible panel in the preview column that surfaces project errors to help with troubleshooting.
Secrets - Project values used for configuration and integrations. Add or manage them in the project's settings when required.
Custom Domain - A Project Settings configuration that serves the published site on your domain.
Resource Function (@) - The “@” attach and call mechanism used to link backend resources such as products or bundles to UI elements during prompting.
Credits - Usage-based spend for agent work, denominated in dollars. Cost varies with prompt complexity and model, and usage is shown in My Plans.
Published URL - The URL for the live version after you publish the site.
